Rant on why affirmative action is not just a cover up for black people.

About four years ago, my sister graduated high school as has been able to attend college on a full scholarship. The same happened to me. Coincidence?

It has to be affirmative action. That’s the only possible way. An endless amount of blessings were bestowed upon me during high school. Over the course of that time I graduated with honors and earned a G.P.A. of 4.0.

If you asked me when I first got into college how I got in, to be honest, I would’ve told you because I am black. However, that’s just my impostor syndrome acting up.

Education should be free for black people.

In a nutshell, Affirmative action was originally created to counteract racial discrimination in the workplace. Then it evolved to counteract discrimination against college applicants.

Education can be a vital tool in navigating in an anti-black world. It’s not for everybody, but black people who want it should have it free of charge.

Free education is a very small part of the reparations black people deserve for the heinous crimes this country dealt us.

Two hundred fifty years of slavery…
