This was an awesome read! You also brought up great points with Kim Kardashian and the “pear bodies” attracting dangerous attention. Beauty standards always change and they’re all based on Eurocentric norms. I’m a pear body myself and I’ve always felt insecure about my thighs and butt. Some guy once slapped my butt on the bus when I was a freshman. It made me beyond uncomfortable. My family would always tell me that my body type is the most desired and while that’s true, I don’t want to feel desired, I want to feel loved. It took tons of emotional work to reach the self love I have right now. In short, black women of all body types are amazing and we don’t need to get BBL’s just for men to sexualize us even more, taking away our humanity.
