This doesn’t mean much to me anymore. It’s all subjective.

My struggles with religion.

I was never a religious person.

Growing up in the church before I could even walk and being forced to go to church through adolescence never had an affect on me.

Granted, I’m a young person with a lot of life ahead of me. But I still don’t think I’ll be religious in the future.

Why?

Because my definition of religion is different from the dictionary definition of religion.

My moral code was compromised.

Of course religion is subjective. Meaning most of us have different religions based on family history, spiritual connection, or just straight up preferences.

But I think it’s more subjective than that.

For example, I have been raised in a Christian church. My denomination was baptist.

I was raised with certain teachings of the Bible and certain religious practices that I had to abide by (like most religious families).

I’ve been taught all my life that homosexuality is a sin, all of “God’s children” will love you, and that if you defy the teachings of the Bible in any way, you’ll go to Hell.
