Passion by Khadejah Jones

Mommy says I should be a cop

Grandma says I should be a surgeon

Sister says I should be a chemist

I want to be a writer

They don’t make money! Says Mommy.

That won’t pay bills! Says sister.

You better get a real job! Says Grandma.

“So I cant be a writer?”

“But I’ve always loved English class?”

I’ve excelled at writing meaningful essays

I express my emotions through my pencil

My feelings of frustration are translated through my lines

Whenever I write, I bring unthinkable joy to another body that lives through the river of emotions

I am happy

Passion is not what I enjoy

I enjoy criminal justice

I enjoy Chemistry

I enjoy Health

Enjoyment lives UNTIL DEATH

No matter what anyone says, My passion will live as long as my soul lives

Forever
