Member-only story
I had a crush on a girl who kept making out with all of my friends.
Then she taught me an unforgettable lesson.
A beautiful, caring, and selfless girl I knew in high school became one of my worst enemies when I saw her true self.
I was no better, but everything she did to my past friend group was just plain weird and confusing.
But I learned a valuable lesson from this emotionally draining saga, and it’s to love yourself before it’s too late.
Here’s what I mean by that.
This is the beginning of a roller coaster — exchanging numbers.
This girl was a year younger than me. I was in marching band in high school and she was an incoming freshman.
We both played the saxophone so we were going to be in the same section.
I thought — “Cool! Someone I can show the ropes to and be friends with”. I was thirsty for more friends.
I introduced myself to her….blah blah blah…and long story short, we became friends. We exchanged numbers and that was the beginning of my mistake.
Impulsive stocking.
My thirst for friends really showed when I called her constantly.
